José Pedro brings over 25 years of experience as a senior executive in emerging markets. He spent most of his career at Deloitte, where he became a Partner specialized in the financial sector. His main mission was to set up or perform structural business transformation in financial institutions, in particular in Latam, Africa and the Middle East.
He left Deloitte in 2006 to become the founding CEO of Finicapital, a Holding Group with investments in Africa and Europe, which ranged from infrastructure, urban development, real estate, and waste management to energy and engineering. He held this position until 2014. Along these years, he developed a strong and successful entrepreneurial career whilst gradually shifting to more senior advisory roles, with a particular focus on strategic monitoring and special advice to executive teams. To date, Jose Pedro retains a number of non-executive board memberships in several large corporations, alongside a portfolio of active investments.
José Pedro combines a wealth of experience in strategic and advisory services with years of hands on entrepreneurial and managerial expertise, in a wide array of sectors, and at different points in the economic cycle. As such, one of his main strengths lies in his ability to quickly understand business key points, identify and anticipate risk, and swiftly design proactive and practical solutions.
José Pedro holds a MSc in Economics and Finance from NOVA SBE, and has a completed the Global CEO Programme, run jointly by the Wharton Business School, University of Pennsylvania, IESE Business School Barcelona, and China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) Shanghai. He is fluent in Portuguese and in English.
Isabel has over 20 years’ experience in Finance. She is the co-founder of both QWC and QW Capital, a FCA regulated asset management firm based in London. Over the past 10 years she has acted as CFO and Compliance Officer, and offered strategic advisory services to an array of investors, including two leading European Private Equity Firms. Previous to that, Isabel worked as a Director of Equity Sales in London at both Credit Suisse and UBS. Isabel started her career as a bond trader at Banco Comercial Português, followed by three years as an equity research analyst in Banco Finantia, and two setting up the equity sales business at Banco Espírito Santo in Lisbon.
Alongside her work in finance, Isabel is also the CEO of Walkabout Foundation, an international non for profit organisation that restores dignity, independence and freedom by providing wheelchairs and rehabilitation to individuals in the developing world, whilst funding research to find a cure for paralysis. To date, Walkabout has granted over $1mn towards ground-breaking medical research, opened daycare and rehabilitation centres for disabled children in Kenya and India, and distributed over 12,000 wheelchairs in 23 countries, impacting an estimated 36,000 lives. She sits on the Advisory Board of the International Automobile Federation’s (FIA) High Level Panel for Road Safety, born on the back of this theme’s inclusion within the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Isabel’s deep understanding of both the for profit and non for profit sectors, places her in a unique position to assist on ascertaining the fine balance between financial viability and positive social impact, both of which are paramount elements when pursuing successful long term value creation and sustainability in emerging and frontier markets. Isabel holds two Postgraduates in History of Art from Christies Education, London, a Postgraduate in European Business Administration from ISCTE, Lisbon, and a MSc in Economics and Business from CEU San Pablo, Madrid. She is fluent in Spanish, English, Italian, Portuguese, Norwegian and French.
João brings 10 years’ experience as an investment banker and strategic consultant, having joined QWC from Banco Millennium, where he was an Executive Director at the Corporate Finance division overseeing, between 2015 and 2017, an array of transactions in the Healthcare & Pharma, Energy, Chemicals, Auto and Consumer Goods sectors.
João started his career in 2007 as a consultant at Deloitte’s Strategy & Operations Team, joined Spanish multinational Endesa in 2008, as a Business Analyst in the firm’s Portuguese Energy Business Division, and moved two years later to Banco Privado Atlântico’s (BPA) Investment Banking division to cover European and Sub-Saharian markets in the Energy & Infrastructure space. In 2013, after completing an MBA at the London Business School, and a subsequent internship at Nomura International’s M&A Natural Resources & Power team, João retuned to BPA to focus on Corporate Finance, M&A and Project Finance. During this time, he was actively involved in the design and analysis of business plans and in the provision of financial advisory services in Angola, Portugal and Namibia.
In addition to holding an MBA from the London Business School with a specialization in Finance and Private Equity, João holds a BSc in Engineering and Industrial Management from the Instituto Superior Tecnico (IST) in Lisbon. João is fluent in Portuguese, English and Spanish, and conversational Italian.
Sandra joined QWC in 2017, with 11 years of experience in financial advisory services, including corporate finance and debt advisory.
Prior to joining QWC, Sandra was a Director at Banco Privado Atlântico’s (BPA) Investment Banking division for five years, where she headed the Corporate Finance team and was involved in several M&A transactions and syndicated loans processes. Sectors covered included Financials, Construction, Consumer Services, Consumer Goods, Healthcare, Agribusiness and Retail.
Between 2006 and 2012, she was a Manager at KPMG Portugal’s Corporate Finance team, working in several projects involving brand and company valuation, business unit and corporate business plan analysis, fund raising and debt renegotiation, and M&A both in Portugal and Mozambique. She also provided impairment test and fair value analysis of investment and private equity funds as well as corporate valuation analysis to internally support KPMG’s Audit Team.
Sandra holds a Degree in Finance from ISCTE Business School, a Specialisation in “Applied Corporate Finance” from CEMAF – Finance Research Centre. She is fluent in Portuguese and in English.
Mário joined QWC in 2017, with several years’ experience in investment banking and asset management. He started his career as a member of the European Valuation Center team of Willis Towers Watson in Portugal in 2010, where he was involved in actuarial pension scheme analysis for UK based companies. In 2012, he joined the Investment Banking division of Banco Privado Atlântico (BPA), heading several M&A and Structured Finance deals over various sectors, such as Real Estate, Financials, Agribusiness, Energy and Healthcare. Two years later, he co-founded Odell Global Investors, today the leading asset management firm in Angola, and become the firm’s Head of Real Estate and Private Equity funds.
Mário has been acting as a selected mentor for Angolan candidates at the BMCE Bank of Africa’s African Entrepreneur Award and holds a Master’s Degree in Finance from Brookes Business School, Oxford Brookes University, a Postgraduate in Banks and Insurance Companies Management and a BSc in Finance from ISEG - University of Lisbon. He is fluent in Portuguese and in English.
Marcelo joined QWC in 2017, with previous experience in financial advisory services and asset management as an Associate at Odell Global Investors managing a Real Estate Investment Fund.
He first worked as a Consultant in the area of Transaction Advisory Services at Ernst & Young in Angola, where he was involved in sector and corporate business plan analysis, feasibility studies and company valuations.
Marcelo holds a BSc in Finance from the University of Kansas, USA. He is fluent in Portuguese and in English.
Paula joined QWC team during 2017, bringing almost 30 years’ of professional experience, first as travel agent and then as executive PA and general office manager.
Paula started her career in 1979 at Abreu Travel Agency as outgoing technician, subsequently joining the expanding team for the British, American and Canadian markets. In 1989, she joined Banco Internacional de Crédito - Grupo Espírito Santo - to assist the Director of National Operations. A few years later she became become executive PA to the Board at one of the group’s subsidiaries, EuroGES Factoring, and thereafter took up the role of General Assistant to the Commercial and Risk Analysis Direction. Over the last 10 years Paula has been working as an executive PA and office manager in Investment Consulting for the European and African Markets..
Alongside her professional activity Paula dedicated much of her time to a non-profit organisation based in Angola.
Paula is fluent in Portuguese and in English.
